For over 20 years, Tommy has proudly served in the Restaurant & Bar Industry, committing himself to Life Behind Bars. “I think it’s something that I’ll always be a part of, in some form or fashion”, says Morton. He’s been a security guard, busser, barback, restaurant expediter, bartender, Bar Manager, Podcaster, Consultant, Entertainment Director, General Manager, Mutli-Unit Manager, and for a short time, Owner. “If there’s a job code for it on the payroll, I’m sure I’ve done it” he says with a laugh, “I just started one day and had a problem with saying No to people”.
“Not to sound too ‘Bourdain-esque’, but some of the wisest and most hardworking people I’ve ever met have worked in kitchens and bars. Just because they may not be highest on the pay scale, that doesn’t mean that they’re unintelligent or expendable. If you want to see a rare breed of badass, I’ll show you a guy in the Kitchen Window, putting twelve entrees together from five different stations. Or a bartender that can mind-juggle six orders with modifications, while smiling, acknowledging a new guest that just sat down, changing a keg, and switching two TVs to the game”.
With all things getting more expensive, Tommy is committed to making the tax prep process as easy and affordable as possible for those in the Service & Retail Industries. “Things are tough right now, especially for restaurant workers. PPA is down, tips are down, hours are getting cut. It’s my job to make this process easy and affordable, so they can focus on doing what they do best, which is make others happy.”
